University Academic Advising provides all Virginia Commonwealth University first-year students with a common advising experience to ensure they receive the exposure and support needed to excel in their first year of study at the university. University academic advisors will help students learn about the academic requirements of their majors as well as help them explore new majors if they are undecided or interested in changing their current major. University Academic Advising also provides professional program advising for students who are interested in pursuing future careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, or other professional health degrees.
University Academic Advising offers courses which are designed to provide tools to help students with the critical transition from high school to college, to improve their academic success, or for those who are seeking a more structured experience to explore majors and future career paths.
University Academic Advising works hand in hand with the faculty and academic advisors in each of the university’s colleges and schools to ensure a successful transition for all first year students moving into their sophomore year or upon successful admission into a professional program.
University Academic Advising is located on the First Floor of Hibbs Hall, and can be reached at (804) 827-8648.
