Back to Basics
Back to Basics (BtB) is a series of bimonthly, virtual professional development sessions and webinars designed to connect our academic advising community with our colleagues from adjacent student-serving programs and offices. The overarching goal of the series is twofold: 1) to provide advisors with up-to-date information and 2) to encourage the development of collegial, interdepartmental relationships. By working together and learning from each other, our academic advising community can achieve more collectively than individually. We believe this creates a more effective and supportive advising environment for our students and is foundational for their success.
At least 6 sessions will be held during the calendar year, but more may be offered based on demand and advisor feedback. Unless otherwise noted, the sessions are held on Tuesday afternoons, begin at 1:00 PM EST, and are either 30 or 60 minutes at the presenter’s preference. The agenda of each session is largely directed by the presenter. When possible and with permission from the presenter, we attach supplementary materials to the Google calendar event and upload the session recording to our Talent playlist.
