Course Overrides

Students may occasionally see a registration error when they try registering for classes. Examples of these errors could include time conflict, major or minor restriction, or size capacity. A course override could remove one or more of these restrictions, which would allow a student to bypass the error and successfully register. Each unit manages their own processes for considering, or not considering, course overrides. See below for unit-specific information on requesting a course override.

School of Education Override Form

This form is to request access to a course in the following subject areas: ADLT, ADMS, CLED, ECSE, EDLP, EDUC, EDUS, ENED, IDDS, READ, SEDP, and/or TEDU.

Override Requests need to be submitted in a timely manner for review and processing. Override requests received after noon on the last day to add/drop classes, will not be reviewed. Late submissions of requests will not justify late adds into classes after add/drop ends.

It is the student's responsibility to add the class to their course schedule should the override be approved and processed.

For additional questions about override requests (including MATH 361, MATH 362, and MATH 303), please contact Karen Meister, Senior Academic Advisor, at soeadvising@vcu.edu.

H&S (MASC) https://forms.gle/VScccTxtmBsx4iuBA Students must allow at least 7 business days for review and processing of their override request. It is Robertson's policy that overrides are not given to closed sections if seats remain in another section of the same class. Students may not be issued an override into their preferred section based on the seat availability should they meet enrollment requirements. Students are responsible for knowing the requirements for enrollment such as prerequisites and GPA requirements. Once an override is issued, a student must register themselves for the class on eServices. If denied an override, students will be notified via their VCU email.
